Naphthalene Acetic Acid (NAA) 4.5% SL is a synthetic auxin-type plant growth regulator with one of the broadest registration profiles under CIB in India. Auxins control cell elongation, root initiation, apical dominance and fruit development through interaction with the TIR1/AFB co-receptor system that regulates gene expression.
Primary agricultural uses: Fruit thinning (apple, pear) โ applied early post-bloom at low concentration (5โ20 ppm) causes selective abscission of weakly attached fruitlets, improving size and quality of remaining fruit while reducing biennial bearing. Prevention of pre-harvest drop (apple, mango) โ applied 2โ4 weeks before anticipated harvest strengthens the abscission zone and reduces drop losses significantly. Rooting of cuttings โ high concentration dip treatment (1000โ3000 ppm) in nursery settings induces adventitious root formation on difficult-to-root cuttings. Promotion of fruit set in parthenocarpic varieties of tomato, capsicum and cucumber under cold/hot weather conditions.
