Gibberellic Acid (GA3) 40% WSP is a plant hormone belonging to the gibberellin family, formulated as a 40% water-soluble powder for agricultural use. GA3 is the most commercially important gibberellin and has been used in crop production since the 1950s. All applications are CIB-registered under the Insecticide Act 1968.
Primary agronomic uses: In table grapes โ GA3 is used in two applications: first at early flower stage for bunch loosening (preventing cluster compactness and grey mould entry), and second at berry diameter 5โ8 mm for berry elongation (improving the Thompson Seedless elongated shape preferred by export markets). In seedless varieties, GA3 replaces seed-derived gibberellin signals to produce normal berry development. In tomato โ foliar application at low concentration (20โ25 ppm) improves fruit set under cold temperatures. In citrus โ improves fruit retention and delays ageing of the rind.
GA3 acts by activating gibberellin-responsive genes in plant cells, promoting cell elongation through increased extensibility of cell walls, triggering germination of dormant seeds and breaking dormancy of overwintering buds.
