Copper EDTA 12% provides copper in EDTA-chelated form for correction of copper deficiency in peat soils, newly reclaimed land, high-organic soils and alkaline calcareous soils. Copper is essential for electron transport in photosynthesis (plastocyanin), lignin biosynthesis, pollen viability and reproductive development.
Copper deficiency causes reclamation disease in cereals (wilting, blueing of leaves, sterility), dieback in trees and shrubs, and reduced pollen viability in many crops. Deficiency is most common on peaty soils with high organic matter, which strongly chelates copper and reduces its availability, and on alkaline sands.
EDTA chelation significantly improves copper availability in alkaline and organic-rich soils where copper sulphate would be rapidly immobilized.
