Yellow Leaves in Rice

Common Causes

• Nitrogen deficiency — pale yellow, old leaves first
• Zinc deficiency — brown spots + bronzing (Khaira disease)
• Iron deficiency — interveinal chlorosis young
• Iron toxicity in flooded soil — bronze leaf syndrome

Treatment

Zinc deficiency (Khaira): Zinc Sulphate 10kg/acre soil + Zinc EDTA 0.5g/L foliar. Nitrogen: Urea 15kg/acre.

Prevention

Zinc Sulphate basal application at every crop. Balanced water management.
