Yellow Leaves in Maize

Common Causes

• Nitrogen deficiency — yellowing starting old leaves
• Corn streak virus — yellow streaks on young leaves
• Phosphorus deficiency — purple tinge + pale green
• Iron deficiency — interveinal chlorosis young leaves

Treatment

Nitrogen: Urea 20kg/acre top-dress. Iron: Iron DTPA 0.5g/L foliar. Phosphorus: DAP 15kg/acre basal next crop.

Prevention

Regular soil testing, balanced NPK, avoid waterlogging.
