Wilt Disease in Chilli

Common Causes

• Phytophthora blight — sudden wilt, crown rot
• Fusarium wilt — yellowing before wilt
• Bacterial wilt — brown discolouration inside stem
• Root knot nematode — slow decline, wilting midday

Treatment

Phytophthora: Metalaxyl + Mancozeb 2.5g/L drench at root zone. Nematode: Carbofuran 3G 4kg/acre soil at planting.

Prevention

Raised beds for drainage. Soil treatment before transplanting. Avoid flooding irrigation.
