Leaf Curl in Cotton

Common Causes

• Cotton leaf curl virus (CLCuV) — major threat, whitefly-transmitted
• Thrips feeding — silvery curl
• Broad mite — distorted curled leaves

Treatment

Viral: No cure. Whitefly control critical: Imidacloprid 0.3mL/L or Thiamethoxam 0.3g/L. Mites: Abamectin 0.5mL/L.

Prevention

Use CLCuV-tolerant varieties. Whitefly management from early stage. Avoid ratoon crop from infected plants.
