Leaf Curl in Chilli

Common Causes

• Chilli leaf curl virus (CLCV) — viral, spread by whitefly
• Mites (broad mite, thrips) — mechanical distortion
• Copper deficiency — tip curl distortion
• Excess nitrogen — soft tissue curl

Treatment

Viral: No cure — remove affected plants. Vector control: Imidacloprid 0.3mL/L. Mites: Abamectin 1.9% EC 0.5mL/L. Copper deficiency: Copper EDTA 0.3g/L.

Prevention

Sticky yellow traps for whitefly monitoring. Copper spray preventive. Avoid excess N.
